As a professional carpenter for over 15 years, he has a high level of experience with complete remodels of homes, mainly kitchens & bathrooms- specializing in detail-oriented work, like tile & custom trim. He is also highly skilled/experienced in plumbing & electrical work. After working directly with homeowners for his career in carpentry, he is also great at communicating & explaining projects with an easy to talk to personality. John has fully converted two school busses (40ft & 38ft) to off-grid, homes-on-wheels for his family & has been hired on various families traveling home projects. With the build of the two skoolies, he is now fully-capable of installing new & modifying existing solar systems.
He also co-ran Luna Hill Farm for 10 years, working with & caring for the animals & many garden/farm projects. He also co-ran the Luna Hill Wild School for 2 years, teaching children ages 4-13, with a passion to share his skills with kids. His love for working with children really shines in the patience and care he takes, listening to each chid with respect & genuine curiosity. He also welds, has experience with large farm equipment, and is mechanically inclined. As an avid forager, he has years of experience enjoying, as well as teaching, foraging for wild mushrooms in the Midwest. While AJ held most of the vision behind the projects at Luna Hill Farm, John was most of the ‘muscle’ & the brains on the ‘how-to’ behind the big projects. From building a movable chicken coop, planting trees, building a treehouse, completely remodeling their farmhouse, turning the garage into a woodshop for educational purposes-he is truly talented & highly skilled in so many practical and creative ways.
